Jaws dropped on 90’s kids the world over when it was announced that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would be returning to television, on the network that housed every 90’s kids’ favorite lineup of phenomenal TV series: Nickelodeon. Since the announcement that Paramount would be putting together both an animated TV series and a live-action feature film, not very much in the way of details has been revealed. Well now, a teaser for the animated series has been released and gives us our first look at Donatello, Raphael, Leonardo and Michelangelo. Hit the jump to check it out.
Here’s the sneak peek (via EW):
While we don’t really get to see much besides brief glimpses of the characters, we do get our first taste of what the animation will look like. Though 3D animation seemed all but inevitable, I’m not sure I’m a fan of the blocky look of the characters. I would have preferred a 2D animated version of the series, but that’s probably the fault of my own nostalgia. Whether this reboot of the show will catch on with the young ‘uns of the 2000’s is yet to be seen, but it still puts a smile on my face to see the heroes in a half shell back in action.

Isn’t the other show still on the air?
I thought I watched that special last fall that had all the turtles from the comics and other tv shows?
I’m really okay with 3D animated turtles, but after the TMNT feature, anything this cheap just looks awful. TMNT wasn’t excellent, but I couldn’t argue with the animation style. This however is an eyesore.
looks like they spent about a fiver on it. super low quality. just the titles are horrifying. ever heard of kerning? thought not.. *retch*

Agreed. Looks a bit like a step backwards visually at least. Hopefully the writing will be good. Nickelodeon actually has a handful of shows with pretty good storylines. I won’t write this off until I see a couple episodes to see if they placed some of their A-game team on it.
