Almost a year ago the movie “Teeth” premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Before the fest began, it was one of those films that a lot of people were talking about due to the subject matter – it was the movie about a girl with vagina dentata.

It you aren’t familiar with the myth of vagina dentata…let me put it in very simple terms. “Teeth” is a movie about a girl with teeth in her vagina, and these teeth are very sharp, powerful, and can easily destroy what enters…. if you get my drift.

Let’s just say that if you’re a guy and you see this movie…at certain points you will be crossing your legs and feeling some pain.

Anyway, after a long wait the film is finally getting released on January 18th. So to help promote the movie I just interviewed Jess Weixler and John Hensley – the two main stars of the film. But before watching the video, here’s the synopsis. And if you missed the movie clips I recently posted you can watch them here.

“Teeth” tells the story of High school student Dawn (Jess Weixler) works hard at suppressing her budding sexuality by being the local chastity group's most active participant. Her task is made even more difficult by her bad boy stepbrother Brad's (John Hensley) increasingly provocative behavior at home. A stranger to her own body, innocent Dawn discovers she has a toothed vagina when she becomes the object of violence. As she struggles to comprehend her anatomical uniqueness, Dawn experiences both the pitfalls and the power of being a living example of the vagina dentata myth.

Jess Weixler and John Hensley

  • I ask since the film premiered at Sundance a year ago…what’s it been like waiting for the film to come out.

  • I ask how this project was presented to each of them, as this is kind of a unique story.

  • They talk about upcoming projects. Jess talks about Peter and Vandy which is a love story she made with Jason Ritter. John talks a bit about Shutter.
