Focus World has released the Term Life trailer online. The film stars Vince Vaughn as a thief who gets framed by a corrupt cop (Bill Paxton) for the murder of a drug lord’s (Jordi Molla) son. The thief picks up his estranged daughter (Hailee Steinfeld) and goes on the run to avoid the mob’s wrath and stay alive for at least 21 days so his daughter can collect on his life insurance.

It’s a bit of a soft premise, and while early loglines made the movie sound a bit more serious, now it looks like the film leans more comic, which isn’t necessarily bad. If you had asked me before True Detective: Season 2 if Vaughn needed a change of pace, I would have said that he needed it badly. Now that he’s been widely ridiculed for his deadpan performance (a performance that, to be fair, was burdened by atrocious dialogue and a crummy story), perhaps playing another sarcastic character isn’t the worst thing for him.

Check out the Term Life trailer and poster below. The film also stars Jonathan Banks, Mike Epps, Jon Favreau, Shea Whigham, William Levy, Taraji P. Henson, Annabeth Gish, Terrence Howard, and Cain Velasquez. Term Life will be available On Demand and Digital HD on March 1st, and opens in theaters on April 8th.
