Paramount has released the first Terminator Genisys trailer for director Alan Taylor's (Thor: The Dark World) new entry in the franchise. The story begins just like the original, as future John Connor (Jason Clarke) in a war-ravaged 2029 sends his loyal soldier, Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back to 1984 to save his mother (Emilia Clarke) from a Terminator programmed to kill her.  What he finds on the other side, however, is not what he expected.  Indeed, this debut trailer follows this same trajectory, as it begins as a simple remake of The Terminator that shows more of the future-set side of the story before jumping into a very different 1984.  There's not really anything too blatantly offensive or bad in this trailer, but the whole thing just feels very ho-hum.  I'm not really getting the sense that this new story is particularly compelling or even all that interesting, and even the big action money shots are sorta "Oh yeah, some CG effects.  Neat."  I'd like nothing more than to be pleasantly surprised, but this introduction to Genisys isn't particularly promising.
