If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram and were online last Sunday, you might have seen a lot of tweets and video from the world premiere of Terminator Genisys in Berlin. However, since I know a lot of you aren’t on social media 24/7, and more of you don’t follow me, I decided to post one of the highlights from the red carpet: the Periscope right before the premiere started that featured interviews with Arnold Schwarzenegger,Jai Courtney, Jason Clarke, and Skydance’s CEO David Ellison and CCO Dana Goldberg. While I’d never done Periscope before my Berlin trip, I honestly don’t know how I’m going to top this one because how often do you get to talk to Arnold Schwarzenegger live on the internet? I’ve been working at Collider for 10 years and this was my first time getting to ask him a question.
In the Periscope video that’s below, you’ll see Peter from /film and I having fun on the red carpet, and then the madness starts. After the interviews end, you’ll see us do a wrap up and you’ll hear me be very critical about my one Schwarzenegger question. While I normally have things prepared, I didn’t think I had any chance of talking with him and came up with the question on the spot. Not my best work.
Finally, a number of you have asked me about the movie. I really enjoyed Terminator Genisys. It’s easily the 3rd best in the franchise behind Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgement Day and feels more in the James Cameron universe than any of the other sequels. While it’s not a home-run (it slows down when exposition has to happen to explain what’s going on), it’s got some great action scenes and I really enjoyed seeing Schwarzenegger play his most iconic role again. Hopefully audiences turn out for this because everyone involved wants to make a trilogy of new Terminator movies, and I want to see the next two installments.
Here’s Peter and I on the red carpet. Again, a HUGE thank you to Skydance for the invite to Berlin.
