The first clip and a new image from the upcoming horror film Texas Chainsaw 3D have been released.  The film is a direct sequel to the 1974 original and picks up where that film left off: a young woman has escaped the horrors of the Sawyer family and alerted authorities.  The townspeople descend on the Sawyer household and burn it to the ground, seemingly putting an end to the family’s reign of terror.  The story then jumps forward to present day where a young woman has inherited a Texas estate from a grandmother she didn’t know she had, and naturally things take a dark turn when she goes snooping around.  This clip features Leatherface chasing down a couple of young, good-looking people (as he is wont to do), and I enjoy that he’s having so much fun that he takes the time to do a little skip with his chainsaw.Hit the jump to check out the clip and image.  The film stars Alexandra Daddario and Scott Eastwood.  Texas Chainsaw 3D opens on January 4, 2013.If you missed any of Jason’s set visit coverage, be sure to check out his set visit report and interviews with Alexandra Daddario, Scott Eastwood, producer Carl Mazzacone, and director John Luessenhop.Via Machinima.Click to enlarge.texas-chainsaw-3dHere’s the synopsis for Texas Chainsaw 3D:

Lionsgate’s TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D continues the legendary story of the homicidal Sawyer family, picking up where Tobe Hooper’s 1974 horror classic left off in Newt, Texas, where for decades people went missing without a trace.  The townspeople long suspected the Sawyer family, owners of a local barbeque pit, were somehow responsible.  Their suspicions were finally confirmed one hot summer day when a young woman escaped the Sawyer house following the brutal murders of her four friends.  Word around the small town quickly spread, and a vigilante mob of enraged locals surrounded the Sawyer stronghold, burning it to the ground and killing every last member of the family – or so they thought.

Decades later and hundreds of miles away from the original massacre, a young woman named Heather learns that she has inherited a Texas estate from a grandmother she never knew she had.  After embarking on a road trip with friends to uncover her roots, she finds she is the sole owner of a lavish, isolated Victorian mansion. But her newfound wealth comes at a price as she stumbles upon a horror that awaits her in the mansion’s dank cellars.
