The 100 Season 2 finale aired back on March 11th, and fans have been patiently twiddling their thumbs for what seems like too long to bear. Jaha made it through the Dead Zone in less time. All of this waiting could very well pay off because now, with Season 3 starting this week, we’re likely to truck right through instead of breaking midseason. Plus, the wait has given us ample time to ponder the show’s biggest questions.

Everyone had to make hard choices in the Season 2 finale, and the battle at Mount Weather is sure to have lasting ramifications on The Grounders and Sky People alike. As we move ahead into Season 3, the cast and crew have been teasing a much larger conflict that affects all of humanity, while new characters like Brenda Strong’s Ice Queen, come into play.

When Season 3 premieres on Thursday, January 21st on the CW — or after, if you’re going with streaming — look for the answers to any of these questions. Be warned, there are spoilers aplenty below for the first two seasons.

Where Did Clarke Go?

The weight of the world fell on Clarke’s shoulders this past season in a very real sense. Her decisions had massive fallout on the worlds of the Sky People and The Grounders alike. When Lexa and The Grounders demanded the drawn-out torture and execution of Finn, Clarke had an impossible choice to make. She was instantly haunted by her actions after mercy killing Finn herself, and after the devastating events at Mount Weather she decided things would be better if she went off on her own. We’ve seen photos of Clarke in hiding as a Grounder, but where is she settling down? What’s her mission other than to stay off everyone’s radar?

Is This Really the Last We’ve Seen of Finn?

“Will they? Won’t they? Will they?” was the back-and-forth between lovers turned scorned friends turned actual friends turned who-knows-what, Finn and Clarke. At times, it seemed like they could mend their relationship and be happy together, but Finn’s death by Clarke’s hands hammered the nail in that coffin. However, Clarke almost instantly began seeing a Finn-like apparition haunting her, so even though Finn is gone, is he truly gone? After all, Wells appeared to Jaha in his father's moment of need, so it's possible Finn could return, if only in another ghostly cameo.

Is There Still Hope for Clexa (Clarke + Lexa)?

Clarke’s would-be Grounder girlfriend dug her own grave when she stabbed Clarke in the back in the worst way possible at the worst moment possible. Lexa reiterated to Clarke all season long that, even though she took a lover before, that relationship (and its grizzly end) made it clear that she had to show strength first for her peoples’ sake. After all, love is weakness. So it shouldn’t have been that big of a surprise to see her trade the lives of Clarke's people for the safety of her own during the battle at Mount Weather — but it was. We know that Clarke will be getting a new girlfriend in season 3 — who also happens to be a Grounder. Does she have a type or what? But we’ve also seen a heated, knife-to-throat moment between Clarke and Lexa in the trailer. Will they re-stoke this fire?

How Has Maya's Death Changed Jasper?

Jasper had hope during the war on Mt. Weather. He had hope that he could save the captive Sky People and save Maya and the rest of the innocent lives caught in the crossfire. He was on the way to execute his plan when Clarke, Bellamy, and Monty took action and wiped out men, women, children, and Maya. “I was going to save everyone,” he tells Clarke through tears in the trailer. “I wish you could,” she responds. And what about Monty? He and Jasper were best of friends, but he was the one who rerouted the air vents to let in the radiation. Will Jasper ever be able to forgive him? Showrunner Jason Rotherberg told EW last year, “I think it will take him quite a while to get over it,” and his new shaved hairdo seems to confirm that suspicion.

What's Next for Lincoln and Octavia?

There's always been something trying to tear these two lovers apart. First, it was The Sky People, who captured and tortured Lincoln for information. Then it was The Grounders, who condemned Lincoln for seemingly betraying them. Then it was The Mountian Men, who transformed Lincoln into a reaper. Now, Lincoln will be living among The Sky People, his former enemies. That’ll surely be a source for even more conflict, especially as another war begins.

What Pits Octavia Against Bellamy?

One theory I have is that whatever divides these lovers next will involve Bellamy. We know from the trailer that he does something that enrages Octavia enough to beat the living shit out of him. “You’re dead to me,” she tells her blood-battered brother. Elsewhere, we hear her tell someone off-camera that Bellamy is “on the wrong side,” while new character Pike tells Bellamy, “We need to talk about your sister.” Could it have something to do with Lincoln? We do see him (thankfully, shirtless) sparring with Bellamy. Is it training or are they really going at it? The only unforgivable act I can think of that would completely turn Octavia against Bellamy involves Lincoln. Does he, god forbid, die in season 3?

What Are Pike's Plans?

Actor Michael Beach will play a new member of Team Ark, Pike, this season. By the looks of the trailer, he seems like the Donald Trump of the Ark, riling up the Sky People through fear and anti-Grounder propaganda. “This land is ours now,” he says. “Resist and you will be greeted by death.” Towards the end of the footage, we hear him proclaim that all Grounders “are the same” in his eyes as he points his gun at someone off screen. All the pieces seem to intertwine Bellamy, Octavia, and Lincoln into this same thread.

Who Is Jaha's New A.I. Friend and What's It's Plan?

Jaha was on a mission of faith. Leading a small group towards what he hoped would be the promised land, The City of Light, he hoped to save his people from extinction. Instead, he lost all of his travel buddies except Murphy, and found an A.I. in a red dress. When he remarks that she’s not real, she responds, “define real.” One fan theory is that this A.I. is actually the City of Light, being that she does indeed reside North of the Dead Zone and she is made of light. Though, it seems she has a plan to destroy Earth instead of saving it; the final scene of the season 2 finale revealed she has the missile Jaha rode down to Earth from the Ark, as well as its warhead. “We have work to do,” she tells him, but what work?

What Is That Mysterious Tower

We’ve seen it in the poster and we’ve seen it in the trailer, but what is this mysterious tower? At first, it seemed like something from the Ice Nation, but a closer look at the structure from footage reveals a warmer climate. My guess is that it marks the Grounder capital city. Rothenberg has been promising a more in-depth look at Grounder society in season 3. Plus, Lexa invited Clarke to visit the city back when they were still on speaking terms. This tower seems to confirm the trip, but perhaps it’s something else.

How Does the Ice Nation Cometh?

The Sky People, The Grounders, The Reapers, The Mountain Men, the Dead Zone, whatever this A.I. is, and now the Ice Nation. Brenda Strong (Desperate Housewives) will play a new character, Queen Nia of the Ice Nation. You might recall seeing two members of the Tondc tribe coming for that big Grounder gathering to plan the attack against Mt. Weather in season 2. Based on the character’s description, she sounds an awful lot like Lexa: she holds “onto her power through ruthlessness and savvy,” and “she does what she must to maintain her power, even when it puts her at odds with those closest to her.” It seems like this tribe has a larger part to play in season 3, but what part is that exactly? And is this the very same Ice Queen who murdered Lexa's beloved Costia?
