Earlier this month, we posted five short clips from Steven Spielberg’s The Adventures of Tintin. Just today we brought you a new official poster and some fan-made opening credits. Now, we have the new trailer for the mo-cap project that showcases a bit more action than the UK one that posted recently.
The Adventures of Tintin is based on one of the most popular comic book series in Europe and as such, will open in the UK on October 26th. Since our American sensibilities need some time to warm up to this foreign hero, the film will open stateside on December 21st. The Adventures of Tintin stars Jamie Bell, Andy Serkis, Simon Pegg and Daniel Craig and was produced by Spielberg and Sir Peter Jackson. Hit the jump to check out the trailer.
I confess to being rather ignorant of Tintin up to this point. If someone had just told me that Tintin is basically a European Indiana Jones, I would have been all for it. This new trailer definitely amps up the action while parsing out some of the humor from the UK trailer. It also conveys a better sense of plot, plus: missing artifact, sunken treasure, shady bad guys, comic relief and explosions. Sold.
Here’s the official synopsis for The Adventures of Tintin:
Paramount Pictures and Columbia Pictures Present “The Adventures of Tintin” directed by Steven Spielberg from a screenplay by Steven Moffat and Edgar Wright & Joe Cornish. Starring Jamie Bell (“Billy Elliot,” “Defiance”) as Tintin, the intrepid young reporter whose relentless pursuit of a good story thrusts him into a world of high adventure, and Daniel Craig (“Quantum of Solace,” “Defiance”) as the nefarious Red Rackham.

That trailer was pretty awesome
I used to read tintin a lot when I was a kid…most definitely looking forward to watching this
Can’t wait!!
Trailer looks out of sync to me in terms of style and tenor of the comics. Haddock’s characterization and personality also doesn’t seem consistent with how I’d expect him. He seems more bumbling here.
The cartoons done by Nelvana in the 90s were pretty spot on in terms of voice acting and character personality.
What I’m seeing so far from the trailer seems ‘off’. Will still watch it though…grew up reading Tintin!
here is a german review i found for the movie, in case anyone here knows any german
