Fans of hot air balloons and Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones, take notice! The upcoming historical drama The Aeronauts, starring Redymane and Jones, will be getting an exclusive IMAX release on October 25th for one week only, a week before the film’s wide theatrical release on November 1st. This marks the first Amazon Studios film to land an IMAX release, and it’ll likely be squeezed in before Terminator: Dark Fate takes over IMAX theaters on November 1st—although that hasn’t been confirmed just yet.

Directed by Tom Harper, The Aeronauts tells the true story of a wealthy young widow named Amelia Wren (Jones) and a headstrong scientist named James Glaisher (Redmayne) who mount a balloon expedition to fly higher than anyone in history. The event took place in 1862, and was fraught with tension and low survival chances.

Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) wrote the screenplay, and it sounds like the film is a pretty contained story set on this hot air balloon. On top of that, the visuals are destined to be striking—especially in IMAX. Key action sequences in the film were designed for IMAX, although the film wasn’t shot using IMAX cameras. Instead, it’ll be digitally re-mastered.

The Aeronauts is one of many awards season contenders opening this fall, and many have their eye on it given the pedigree. The last time Redmayne and Jones starred in a movie together, Redmayne won the Best Actor Oscar and Jones was nominated for Best Actress. That movie was another historical drama, The Theory of Everything.

Will lighting strike twice? We’ll find out this October. For now, check out a new image below that showcases one of the action sequences.
