The first trailer for the upcoming season of Showtime’s The Affair teased a lot of strong emotions and difficult questions about love and selfishness, but a second trailer goes fully into the consequences of the murder plot that was only lightly attended to in Season 1. And if you aren’t caught up with The Affair, this trailer is not for you — the first few scenes are basically the last few scenes from the Season 1 finale.

But if you are all caught up, here’s the gist: Noah (Dominic West) was arrested at the conclusion of Season 1 for the hit and run (while already wrapped up in his new life with Alison, played by Ruth Wilson), and it seems like that case is going full steam ahead. There also appears to be more time-jumping as well.

Further, the new trailer also shows a lot more strife between Noah and Alison than we’ve seen before, in addition to the pain they’ve caused regarding their former spouses (played by Joshua Jackson and Maura Tierney). Noah is an ass, Alison keeps secrets, etc., and so on. But there are no hints, yet, of the two addition POV storylines focusing on Jackson and Tierney’s characters.

Check it out for yourselves below, and let me know how you’re feeling about Season 2 from what we’ve seen and reported on so far. The Affair will return to Showtime October 4th at 10 p.m.
