Remember when you still had hope that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 could be a solid sequel?   Now you can relive those 10 minutes because the opening sequence of Marc Webb’s second go-around with the hero is here.  Having seen the film, it’s impossible to ignore the fact that it never came together, but this sequence does serve as a reminder that there were some cool parts to it.

The release of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opening scene is tied to the DVD and Blu-ray debut, but it also hit amidst of flurry of Spidey spinoff movie news including the plan for a female-led film, Sinister Six story details and also the reveal of the new title for Alex Kurtzman’s Venom movie, Venom Carnage.  Hit the jump for more.

Again, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is a pretty disappointing installment overall and it’s incredibly tough not to laugh at Paul Giamatti’s silly, unnecessary and grunt-heavy performance as Aleksei Sytsevich, but out of context, this opening chase scene is still somewhat fun to watch.  The movie as a whole though?  Not so much.  But if you are interested in catching The Amazing Spider-Man 2 again, the movie hits DVD and Blu-ray on August 19th and that Blu-ray will rock loads of special features including nine deleted scenes and seven featurettes.
