Sony Pictures has released new The Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie clips, six minutes of B-roll, and a behind-the-scenes look at the recording of the score.  The follow-up finds Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) surrounded by antagonistic forces as Electro (Jamie Foxx) emerges, Parker’s old friend Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) returns to New York City, and everyone seems to have a connection to the shady goings-on at Oscorp.  The music stuff is particularly cool because it shows composer Hans Zimmer recording with the band. And if you don’t blink, you might see director Marc Webb playing guitar towards the end of the video.

Hit the jump to check out the clips, B-roll footage, and behind-the-scenes video of the scoring process.  The film also stars Emma StonePaul GiamattiSally FieldChris Cooper, B.J. Novak, and Felicity Jones.  The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D on May 2nd.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Amazing Spider-Man 2:

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: Oscorp.

Man, Sony is really not sparing any expense when it comes to marketing this film

I’m excited to hear what Hans Zimmer has brought to Spider-Man after following Elfman’s amazing score and Horners good but not great score.

I don’t understand. Is this movie tracking really low? Why are they so desperate in their marketing?

Not a fan of bringing in a jazz trumpet player (even a great one) to play what’s essentially an orchestral trumpet part. That tone is just not working for me on that theme. I do like the quiet version later on with the strings though. And it’s hard to tell what they’ll end up with from the rock stuff at the end, obviously it’s all out of context but from what’s in there it mostly sounds like a few guys noodling in their garage.

Clips are crack and once you start showing them people will watch even if they think they’ve seen too much

Still loving Andrew Garfield as Peter. As far as I’m concerned, I’m lucky to see the movie version of Spider-man I always imagined: snarky, (actually) amusing, and doesn’t spend 30 minutes or so crying, or worse Saturday Night Fevering.
