To the surprise of no one, Joss Whedon’s The Avengers will be shot in 3D. I suppose that’s a step up from Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger, which are being post-converted into 3D. But does the story of any of these movies demand 3D? Avatar changed moviemaking, but Cameron used the 3D to convey the other-worldliness of Pandora. It served a narrative purpose. I know it’s old-hat at this point to be curmudgeonly about 3D, but I’m still fed-up with the process. Ticket prices are going to go be higher when the film hits theaters on May 4, 2012 than they are now. And Marvel is adding on the “premium 3D” experience. I’ll admit there have been good 3D movies. But none of them have been worth the extra cash for the 3D experience.
The Avengers stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, and Mark Ruffalo. Filming is set to begin in February. [Showbiz 411]
I guess I shouldn't be surprised, just hoped that it wouldn't be in 3D. Maybe the fight scenes will look cool?…oye.

Good luck… I guess.
Comparing kid-films against Avatar isn't that fair though. Movies like despicable me, toy story and HTTYD are movies for all the family. And no family with a couple of kids can afford/or don't want to pay up for expensive 3d-tickets.
I'll save $15 and catch the 2D Matinee.
AVATAR didn't change movies. It just made it easier for Studios to raise ticket prices.
I don't have a problem with it if the film is shot in 3D. The fucking price hikes are a major problem.
lame..
