Los Angeles Readers: Gallery1988 to Host Show of Art Inspired by THE AVENGERS

If you live in Los Angeles and are a fan of comic book characters and/or art, you’re in luck.  Disney announced today that Gallery1988 in Hollywood will be playing host to a bevy of artwork inspired by The Avengers.  The art show will run through the film’s opening weekend, May 3rd through May 6th, so you can partake in more The Avengers goodness before and after you catch the flick.  Disney sent over a couple of sample prints that will be on display, and my jealousy-meter raised up quite a few ticks after having a peek at what Gallery1988 will have to offer.

Hit the jump to check out the images and for more information on the art show.  The event will feature the work of artists such as Dave Perillo, Rhys Cooper, Scott Campbell, Luke Chueh, Ken Garduno, Kiersten Essenpreis and NC Winters, as well as others.  The Avengers opens in 3D on May 4th.

(April 23, 2012) Marvel Studios announced today that Gallery1988 in Hollywood, Calif., will mount a show of art inspired by the Marvel Super Heroes featured in the highly anticipated, summer event movie “Marvel’s The Avengers.”  The show, sponsored by Visa Signature, will run through the film’s opening weekend, from May 3 through May 6, 2012.

“Marvel’s The Avengers”—the Super Hero team up of a lifetime— is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963 and a comics institution ever since.
