40 New High Res Images from THE AVENGERS; New Looks at the Aliens, Hulk Saving Iron Man, and More

     February 29, 2012

With Marvel releasing a kick-ass new trailer for The Avengers this morning, I decided to screengrab my favorite 40 images from the 1080p version of the trailer.  That means the images are the best they can look.  And even though the trailer gives away a lot of the movie, there is no way any fan of Marvel movies won’t be counting the days till May 4.  After all, the dream of having our favorite superheroes in one movie, fighting side by side, is only two months away!

Also, while I’m excited to see Captain America (Chris Evans), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) fighting aliens together, I’m more excited to see what director Joss Whedon has done with the dialogue scenes.  The way these characters interact with one another is what will make or break this movie, not how cool are the action scenes.  Thankfully, the trailer looks like he nailed it. Hit the jump for the images.

Hulk-The-Avengers-movie-imageHere’s the synopsis for The Avengers:

Marvel Studios presents in association with Paramount Pictures “Marvel’s The Avengers”–the Super Hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins. Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson, and directed by Joss Whedon, “Marvel’s The Avengers” is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963 and a comics institution ever since. Prepare yourself for an exciting event movie, packed with action and spectacular special effects, when “Marvel’s The Avengers” assemble in summer 2012. In “Marvel’s The Avengers,” superheroes team up to pull the world back from the brink of disaster when an unexpected enemy threatens global security.

AWESOME!! Love the Loki in the suit look. And that one pic of the Hulk REALLY looks like Ruffalo! Bring it on! May can’t get here fast enough

Hulk has chest hair now, how cute lol :)

  • Warpcrafter

I was promised pictures of aliens. What I got was blurry pictures of some sort of aerial drones. Pffft!!!

    • Nolan

The seventh to last has some aliens in it, I believe.

  • ozzie

The more i see of this movie the less it looks very good. They did do a nice job of the CGI hulk. It doesn’t look much like the Avengers in the comic books over the last 25 years though.

Loki was an great villain in Thor … I can’t turn down seeing a comic book movie so I of course will watch this but I am looking forward to Spiderman WAY more.

    • Norman

Spiderman looks terrible-we saw it ten years ago…

      • matthew

CORRECTION you saw a horrible spider-man ten years ago, it might have been cool when superhero movies were just starting to come out and get big but go back and watch that garbage now….

  • David

Finally a Hulk that looks believable. Feel much better about it now.

    • Sirquan

the hulk need to be a little more bigger, they lack his actual size

  • sense 11

I love Hulks house, that image alone gives me great confidence in this project.

  • Mr. J

i think this film is gonna rock! the only problem i have is black widow with just a handgun, i mean, they’re fighting giant aliens, not burglars; ol’ shellhead is on her team and he can´t provide her with a more effective weapon? come on!

    • rickytariq

Haha so truu! Why can’t iron man or S.H.I.E.L.D create a cool weapon for her or something!!

      • Pragmator

That portion of the trailer gives me the impression that they’ve been fighting for a while and now they’re preparing for a boss fight of some kind. Perhaps she had a really sweet kit at the outset, but now all she’s got left is a single pistol.

  • DarkisKnight

i’m so watching this film and i can’t hardly wait…funny thing though is i’m a huge Spidey fan yet i’m not in any way excited to even see the upcoming (not so) Spider-man re-botch.

    way to go Avengers!

  • Migzter13

    Definitely on IMAX for me:)
I just hope it lives up to the tremendous hype after 5 movies prior to it.

  • Kottz

Best looking Hulk out of any movie so far.

  • Kim

    Looks Cool!

My initial skepticsm has been steadily waning since the Hulk postings. Who doesn’t love these stills?! I am starting to believe they actually got it right this time! He looks awesome. I just hope they get his movement down–like his appearance in past films it too was cartoonish. I am anxious to see The Avengers, but, c’mon, isn’t it really all about seeing the Hulk go on an honest to goodness kick ass rampage?

  • Robert

The Captain America costume looks like a halloween version of what should be a better, less bulky, more realistic movie costume. Cap looks like a blue condom. That said everything else looks great. Awesome that Hulk resembles Mark Ruffalo.

    • nortondad

Cap looking like a blue condom. Now THAT’s funny.

  • nkutz

Harsh truth- the less of Cap’s mask, the better.
I’ve really liked Norton’s Hulk and especially his Banner, I would’ve l wanted him to return. I try to keep an open mind for Ruffalo, or else just hope he’s Hulked most of the time. Fine by me.

  • Movie Jit

wow.. so much of actions stuffs.. hope it was not disappointing like captian america :p

  • howard

saw new trailer, kicks so much ass, i went blind. movie better be good or else.

  • Brandon Avery

Where’s black panther, ant/giant man, and wasp???

  • Josh

This film does look good, and i think it will storm at the box office, but i just think the hulk looks more an more like the hulk seen in 2003′s Hulk, which everyone moaned at. I just hope that it relates to the 2008 film and isnt another reboot of the character. I know its with another actor, but its still a sequel-ish. hopefull we can get a sequel to the hulk some time soon, with this actor, cos he looks better than norton.

Sorry, but Cap’s too skinny. And who the Hell designed his costume? It looks like he has bra-straps under it or something.
