The folks at Laika have already done such an incredible job making the Boxtrolls feel like real, living, breathing creatures that it’s easy to forget that there’s actually human beings in a sound booth voicing them. Now, thanks to the brand new The Boxtrolls featurette, “Trolls Rights Off the Tongue,” you get to meet the men responsible for configuring the Boxtrolls’ language, Dee Baker and Steve Blum.
On top of that, we’ve also got a new clip from the film featuring Winnie (voiced by Elle Fanning) trying to teach Eggs (Isaac Hempstead Wright) to dress like a proper boy with a little help from the Boxtrolls. Hit the jump to check out The Boxtrolls clip as well as that featurette. The movie also features the voices of Ben Kingsley, Toni Collette, Nick Frost, Simon Pegg, Richard Ayoade, Tracy Morgan and Jared Harris, and is due to hit theaters on September 26th.
Here’s the official synopsis for The Boxtrolls:
A family event movie from the creators of “Coraline” and “ParaNorman” that introduces audiences to a new breed of family – The Boxtrolls, a community of quirky, mischievous creatures who have lovingly raised an orphaned human boy named Eggs (voiced by Isaac Hempstead-Wright) in the amazing cavernous home they’ve built beneath the streets of Cheesebridge. When the town’s villain, Archibald Snatcher (Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley), comes up with a plot to get rid of the Boxtrolls, Eggs decides to venture above ground, “into the light,” where he meets and teams up with fabulously feisty Winnifred (Elle Fanning). Together, they devise a daring plan to save Eggs’ family.
