The Chemical Brothers Will Score Joe Wright’s Teen Assassin Flick HANNA

Director Joe Wright (The Soloist) has hired The Chemical Brothers to score his next film, Hanna.  While at New York Comic-Con, Wright responded to a question from First Showing, saying he secured the big beat titans to provide a more “modern beat” to Hanna. It worked out well for David Fincher with The Social Network, which pulsates to the sounds of Trent Reznor in theaters as we speak.  And Tron: Legacy doesn’t see release until December, but what we’ve heard of Daft Punk’s score has been awesome.

Saoirse Ronan (The Lovely Bones) stars as the titular Hanna, a teenage girl with “the strength, the stamina, and the smarts of a soldier.”  Eric Bana (The Time Traveller’s Wife) plays her ex-CIA father, who trained her in the ways of assassinry.  Hit the jump for a full synopsis, plus a few numbers from The Chemical Brothers to give you an idea what’s in store.

A synopsis for Hanna, which hits theaters April 8, 2011:

Hanna is a teenage girl. Uniquely, she has the strength, the stamina, and the smarts of a solider; these come from being raised by her father, an ex-CIA man, in the wilds of Sweden. Living a life unlike any other teenager, her upbringing and training have been one and the same, all geared to making her the perfect assassin. The turning point in her adolescence is a sharp one; sent into the world by her father on a mission, Hanna journeys stealthily across Europe while eluding agents dispatched after her by a ruthless intelligence operative with secrets of her own. As she nears her ultimate target, Hanna faces startling revelations about her existence and unexpected questions about her humanity.

I’m only a casual fan, but the work of The Chemical Brothers has the makings of a great film score.  I’m definitely more excited for Hanna than I was an hour ago.
