Warner Bros. believes they have a summer horror hit on their hands with The Conjuring, and it looks like they’re right. Plenty of critics who have seen the film have praised it as a throwback that gets plenty of scares. This could be like The Purge, except audiences will keep talking about it past the first weekend. I’ve seen the film, and while I won’t post my review until the day before it opens, I will say that if you’re a fan of director James Wan’s past work, especially Insidious, you’re probably really going to go for his latest picture.

And here’s the official synopsis for The Conjuring:
Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. Based on a true story, “The Conjuring” tells the horrifying tale of how world-renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.
