Michael Fassbender and Javier Bardem Try to Find a Solution in New Clip for THE COUNSELOR; Plus New Posters and a Bonus Clip [UPDATED]

     September 11, 2013

A new clip from director Ridley Scott’s upcoming drama The Counselor has been released online.  The script by Cormac McCarthy (author of The Road and No Country for Old Men) centers on an attorney (Michael Fassbender) who teams with Reiner (Javier Bardem) to sell $20 million worth of cocaine.  In this new clip, we see Fassbender and Bardem’s characters trying to figure out a solution to a problem that the two have encountered.  The cast is certainly fantastic and a script by McCarthy bodes well, but I still really have no idea what the film is about.  Here’s hoping Scott’s finished feature delivers.

Hit the jump to watch the clip.  The film also stars Brad Pitt, Dean Norris, Rosie Perez, John Leguizamo, Natalie Dormer, and Goran Visnjic.  The Counselor opens on October 25th. [Update: We've added a collection of character posters and a second clip to the article after the jump.]

    What? I’d say it’s fairly obvious….

A straight laced counsellor wants to get in on a one-time, big score drug deal so that he can provide the kind of life he deems appropriate for his “finance”. The deal takes a turn for the worse when the truck carrying the drugs is hijacked. All signs indicate the Counsellor as the odd man out, which makes the drug cartel believe it was he who was behind the hijacking. From that point on, the counsellor must find a way to prove his innocence to the cartel, while trying to keep himself and his “wife to be” alive.

I think that pretty much sums up what we’ve seen so far.

Wow! Infinitely better posters than that awful Gimp-made crap they had up till now. Amazing cast, Ridley is always fantastic in everything but screenplays, and that is being given by the greatest American living author! Count me IN!
