Has The Crow remake finally found its lead? Given the many, many, many actors that have been mentioned in connection with the project it’s probably safe to not hold one’s breath just yet, but Deadline reports that Jack Huston is being eyed to lead the long-in-the-works film. The project recently gained momentum when Corin Hardy (It Follows) signed on to direct (with a bit of help from a recommendation from friend Edgar Wright), and now Relativity Studios is keen on finally getting this thing in front of cameras this spring.

Apparently the Boardwalk Empire actor is in early talks to take on the lead role in the film, which is an adaptation of the James O’Barr graphic novel of the same name. The project’s profile has been high given the sustained popularity of Alex Proyas’ 1994 feature film adaptation, but casting the lead has proved difficult. The most recent actor to be attached was Luke Evans, but he fell off before Hardy signed on to direct.

Talks with Huston are early so it may not come together, but Relativity seems to be working hard to get this thing on track. The actor is currently shooting the Ben-Hur remake, in which he plays the lead role, and he’ll be seen in another long-developed project, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
