The Daily Show's correspondent Samantha Bee is the latest cast member to say goodbye to the show, as she is adding to her overall deal with TBS by taking on a second new series with the cable network. Bee already has a scripted comedy series in development there that she created with her husband Jason Jones, who is also a part of the The Daily Show (but will be leaving, too). Though Jones is starring in that series (alongside Natalie Zea, who will play his wife), Bee was not set to appear, which makes sense now given that she'll be hosting her own show.

With news of Bee's exit from The Daily Show, it seems more likely than ever than when Jon Stewart departs the nightly satire series, it may not be a current cast member who takes his place. Rather, it may get a complete reboot crafted to suit a new host.

Early word, according to TV Line, is that the concept for Bee's new show will be another nightly satire series. That may be a more successful move -- and one with a lot less pressure -- than taking over for Stewart.

As for the upcoming Bee-Jones comedy series, TBS describes it as,

An honest and darkly comedic look at family, TBS’s new series will follow a couple and their two young kids as they take a road trip to Florida. Jones stars as unfiltered dad Nate, who packs his wife, Robin (Zea), along with their rebellious daughter Delilah (Gerasimovich) and simpleton son Jared (Carroll), into the family car for what Nate is convinced will be the adventure of a lifetime. Every leg of their trip, however, is fraught with unforeseen disaster as they encounter one hellish turn after another. Plans call for each season of the show to chronicle a different family adventure.
