It looks like Christian Bale only has so much gravel-voice to give. In a recent interview with E! News, Bale says that The Dark Knight Rises will be his last turn as the Caped Crusader. Said Bale,
“The thing is that this will be, I believe, unless [Christopher Nolan] says different, this will be the last time I’m playing Batman.”
Nolan has previously stated that The Dark Knight Rises will be the last Batman film he directs and that the third film will “finish the story” that started with Batman Begins. Hit the jump for what Bale says he knows and doesn’t know about the third film. The Dark Knight Rises also stars Michael Caine and Tom Hardy. It’s slated for release on July 20, 2012.
Bale, who is picking up strong critical acclaim in David O. Russell’s The Fighter, says that when it comes to the plot of The Dark Knight Rises,
“I probably know a little bit more than some other people out there, but I think most people would be surprised at how little I do know… It just hasn’t been necessary yet. I know he’ll give me plenty of time to prepare for whatever I need to, and I’ll discover it.”
This coincides with Michael Caine’s recent interview where he said they weren’t set to receive the script until January. Filming on the highly-anticipated sequel is set to begin in May.

If this movie turns out to be as good as the other two, everyone should stop there. Let’s enjoy these (hopefully) 3 good movies for at least 20 years before they try to “reboot” them or go Batman Forever on us fans with a fourth film.

Personally I cant wait for another Batman reboot! Don’t get me wrong, I love the Nolanverse, BUT to me as a very long time Bat-fan, I am still waiting to see Batman done the way I and many others want to see him portrayed.
The Nolan films, are merely ONE take on the character, and only snippets of a few Batman comics are used as reference.
BUT, a lot of the charachters and storylines and styles that are many favorites, Sadly will never be seen in Nolans “Realistic” take.
BANE, POISON IVY, KILLER CROC, HARLEY QUIN, RIDDLER and PENGUIN to name just a few.
The game ARKHAM ASYLUM as a great example of what Could be on film, yet is a different beast to Nolans flicks. As for Superman ever getting screen-time, well that just seems silly at the moment. But with a reboot, THEN we can have out JLA world.
these villains can work if like the Joker, he was rebooted as realistic villain in Nolan film. a guy came up w idea for an my own idea for other villains
Bane as ‘The Machine’ in 8 mm
Riddler as ‘Zodiac Killer’ in Zodiac
Penguin as ‘Joe Pesci – Mafia’ in Good Fellas
Clayface as ‘Rare type of Leaper Disease’
so ideas are there to make these villains as realistic gritty, challenging & interesting.
Problem is many movie and t.v. show execs. don’t care what the fans want. They want to put their own spin on our beloved franchises. I use Battlestar Galactica for example. Those dinks Moore and Eick made changes just to crate controversy. Another is Howard The Duck. The comic was fantastic, but they “reimagined” it and didn’t bother to ask us fans and made one of the most reviled films of all time. If someone wants to do another take (I’m not against remakes) stop before you ruin it or give it 20 years or so to start again fresh.
Speaking of which, isn’t it time to reboot Harry Potter?
I’m glad that they’re going into this next movie knowing it’ll be their final film, so we’ll have closure for all the characters.
reunite in 20 years for the dark knight returns !
whoopee fucking doo!
YOUR BLOCKING MY LIGHTING.. PISS OFF! -Christian Bale.
HaHaHa
HaHaHa
He should come back in 20 years for TDKR.
I don’t care what anybody says, Christian Bale is fucking awesome!!!
Too bad. I am huge fan of Christian Bale for years. Honestly, he’s a great actor. But anyway, I am crossing my fingers , this movie is going to be fantastic. i can’t wait to see tom hardy playing as bane! bane‘s character is very intriguing.
