The first official teaser poster for Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises has landed online and, in doing so, has successfully made my night. While I’ll shy away from over-analyzing the sheet, I will say it looks to be making use of the dream imagery so important to Nolan’s previous film, Inception, while simultaneously reminding me that my Summer 2012 wedding has some competition for my “most anticipated” summer event (I’m joking…for the most part).

Hit the jump to check out the poster. Opening on July 20th, 2012, The Dark Knight Rises stars Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gary Oldman, Marion Cotillard, and Morgan Freeman. Also, be sure to check back here for the film’s teaser trailer which is expected to debut later this week with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.

Also, we were just sent the description of the teaser trailer for The Dark Knight RisesClick here if you’d like to read it.

wow Jason your getting married? my condolences

and i think this movie is going to break Avatars record. If any movie has a chance to its this one. I know its going to gross over a billion. It JUST might

hope it does, and maybe it will finally prove that there´s absolutely no need of 3D to make a impressively good movie.

    • Oliver @

Without 3D; that will never happen – it would literally have to make twice the money TDK made (which had to be released two times over to cross 1 Billion). If anything comes close to Avatar it might be Harry Potter; DKR isn’t going to get young kids in the theatre.

    now THAT’S a poster

    YYYEEAAAHH!!!
Leaves you scratching your head in utter delight with the question:
WHAT THE HELL HAPPENS TO GOHAM!?!?!

    No Man’s Land anyone?!?:D

    • SumKunt @

Was thinking that same thing… NO MANS LAND! That would be Epic if Gotham has an earthquake. Maybe the lack of Joker will be made up for using Inception style building collapsing. It would sertainly take Batman films to a new level of destruction. I hope its the case. Also, a destroyed Gotham would be a great use for the rumoured Bat-Plane/Copter to find its use.

If you don’t show up at the alter, we’ll know where you’ll be. The nearest Imax.

If you look at this poster in a larger version you can notice pictures and faces in the reflections of the building, but i can’t exactly make it out!

If you look at this poster but in a larger version you can see there are images and faces in the reflections of the buildings, I can’t make out exactly what they are though!

I have a bitter/sweet relationship with Nolan’s approach to advertising, althou inspiring and entertaining its fucking frustrating, its eve and the forbidden fruit allover again…. am i the only one to notice the little refrence to the bat light in the sky, squint ur eyes and u will see it

  16. Aaron @

Don’t worry about the haters guys, these are probably the same people who loved Transformers: Dark of the moon.

I like it, but im thinking of Inception when i look at it. The dream is collapsing.

  21. Come on Son!!! @

All I am saying is this. Am I looking forward to this movie…Of course. But am I going to say I pooped in my pants or jizzed in my pants after looking at this. Hell no. It’s a POSTER people. when you look at a close up of the face part of the bat you can kind of make out a cat face.

  26. jak123456 @

-the superman symbol is a mirage
-two hints at catwoman are in the image
-the upper right hand corner has the joker
-a bat cowl is on the left side above the wing
-A GIANT BAT SYMBOL IS IN THE MIDDLE
