If after watching The Dark Knight or Batman Begins for the umpteenth time you found yourself wondering, “I’d really like to cruise the streets of my town in that Bat-Pod and/or Tumbler,” you’re sorta in luck.  In anticipation of this summer’s The Dark Knight Rises, the actual Tumbler and Bat-Pod from Christopher Nolan’s Batman films are heading to a city near you.  Though you most likely won't be able to get behind the wheel of said vehicles without encountering the wrath of The Dark Knight himself a heavyset security guard.  The nationwide tour begins this Saturday, May 12th and will go through July 7th.  Hit the jump to get a look at some images of the tumbler being loaded for transport, and to find out where these vehicles will be making stops. (Update: The Tumbler Tour website has added new dates and locations to their tour.  Click the link for specifics.)

The tour begins in Bentonville, Arkansas this Saturday and will conclude on July 7th in Los Angeles.  The schedule at this point is tentative and scheduled to change, but if all goes according to plan I’ll be snapping some pics of the event this coming Tuesday in my humble abode of Tulsa, Oklahoma and posting them here on the site.  Here’s the current list of scheduled stops:

  • 5/12 Bentonville, AR
  • 5/15 Tulsa, OK

The Tumbler Tour website doesn’t specify where the events will be taking place in the specific cities, but judging by the big IMAX on the side of the semi in these images, I’m guessing the stops may be at IMAX theaters across the country (I remember vehicles from The Matrix Reloaded parked outside my theater way back when).

Germain over at /Film points out that the concluding date in California is five days before Comic-Con in San Diego, so could the Tumbler Tour be making a visit to Geek Fest 2012?   If so, is it too much to ask for them to bring the sky-climbing The Bat as well?  We’ll have to wait and see, but for now here are some images of the Tumbler being loaded up for transit.  You can get Tumbler Tour updates on the official site, Facebook page, or Twitter.
