This trailer for Syfy’s new series The Expanse is a structural mess that fails to convey the core concept of the show and who’s fighting who, but none of that even matters. The biggest takeaway from The Expanse’s first promo is Thomas Jane’s killer fedora and zero gravity sex.
The show takes place 200 years in the future and features Jane as Detective Miller, a guy working for a corporate security force that’s essentially the law in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. When a young heiress goes missing, Miller is put on the case and the assignment leads to a “race across the solar system to expose the greatest conspiracy in human history.” Hit the jump to check out The Expanse trailer. The show kicks off later this year and also stars Shohreh Aghdashloo, Steven Strait, Dominique Tipper, Cas Anvar, Wes Chatham, Florence Falvre, Jonathan Banks, Paulo Costanzo and Jay Hernandez.
