Watch Almost 20 Minutes of Behind-the-Scenes Footage from THE FAULT IN OUR STARS Starring Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort

     May 4, 2014

With director Josh Boone’s The Fault in Our Stars arriving in theaters June 6th, we’ve been provided with almost twenty minutes of behind-the-scenes footage.  The adaptation of the John Green novel centers on the relationship between two teenagers (Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort) who meet at a cancer support group and fall in love.  The Fault in Our Stars also stars Willem DafoeNat WolffLaura DernSam Trammell, Mike Birbiglia, and Emily Peachey.  For more on the film, watch the extended trailer.

I attended the first screening for fans last night in New York City and I can honestly say it was an powerful experience.  Not only did I share in the many tears that flowed from the entire audience, but I started to understand why so many people are in love with the book and the characters.  Unlike a sappy, saccharine portrait of “cancer love”, the movie is a realistic portrayal of young romance between two people with a unique outlook on life.  It’s a great film with fantastic performances, and if the fan reaction last night is any indication, it’s going to be a big hit at the box office.  Hit the jump to check out the behind-the-scenes footage.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Fault in Our Stars:

Hazel and Gus are two extraordinary teenagers who share an acerbic wit, a disdain for the conventional, and a love that sweeps them – and us – on an unforgettable journey. Their relationship is all the more miraculous, given that they met and fell in love at a cancer support group. “The Fault in Our Stars,” based upon the number-one bestselling novel by John Green, explores the funny, thrilling and tragic business of being alive and in love.

And this in on Collider because???

I actually really liked Shailene Woodley in The Descendents and The Spectacular Now, and perhaps will like this film as well, but I agree that this type of behind-the-scenes footage is usually confined to Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Superhero, and stuff directed by popular indie directors.
This fits into none of those categories.

I’m guessing Collider is getting incentivized in some way or another by the studios for this coverage.

we cover movies. all movies. and this is a good one.

      • dolphin558

Kirsten Dunst, Emma Stone, and Shailene Woodley were all cast as Peter Parker love interests (Shailene’s scenes were cut but she may appear in TASM3). Why are Peter Parker’s gf’s played by actresses few would consider beautiful? Steve, do you think this is unintentional? Perhaps to show that Peter is not shallow, that he sees the good in people despite their exterior appearances?

What the fuck is wrong with you?

      • James Franco

Emma stone considered beautiful by few? She’s breathtakingly hot! Woodley and Dunst should go live under the bridge

      • dolphin558

1: I would not trust someone by the name of “James Franco” would know what constitutes beauty in a woman and 2: Emma Stone is the main reason why I have not watched TASM 2 in 3D. Her jutting teeth coming at the screen would give me whiplash.

      • MJ

Sheesh, you must have one hot girlfriend to bitch about these great looking ladies not being beautiful?

      • dolphin558

1 I do in fact have a hot girlfriend. 2 Not everyone is attractive to everyone else. I happen to disagree with your characterization of them as being great looking”. You obviously disagree with that. We agree to disagree. *handshake*

Steve, with all due respect, you MAINLY cover genre movies/tv related to comics, scifi, fantasy and horror. This is a fact — which can be supported by anyone looking at any random sample of 100 articles on this site and assigning them to genres.

      • blake011

what weird comments. If its a good movie it will be covered just like any movie site. why would a site only cover genre stuff. That makes no sense.

    • Zenexo

Because Collider is about movies and this is a movie.

      • MJ

No, it’s never tried to cover all movie genres. We just get some weird fits like this one now and then. But its primarily the world of comics, fantasy, horror and scifi. Just look at most of the articles and then try to tell me that I am wrong.

        This one doesn’t fit.

Or maybe because it’s a very anticipated upcoming movie?
