In an interview with The Wolfman director Joe Johnston, Fangoria reports that his next film, The First Avenger: Captain America is set to go in front of cameras in June.  That’s not too surprising when you consider the film has a target release date of July 22, 2011.  According to Fangoria, Johnston is currently meeting with the art department.  I hope they spend an entire day mocking Rob Liefeld’s illustration of Captain America.

There’s also some news about Martin Campbell’s adaptation of Green Lantern so hit the jump to learn about some of the great production crew who are on board.

SuperHeroHype reports that Green Lantern will have some Oscar-winners in its roster when it comes to the behind-the-camera work.  First up, you have cinematographer Dion Beebe (Oscar-winner for Memoirs of a Geisha).  Then you got production designer Grant Major and costume designer Ngila Dickson who both won Oscars for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (i.e., the way the Academy awarded the entire trilogy).  Finally, while he’s not an Oscar-winner, art director François Audouy is the guy with the superhero resume in his back pocket having worked in the art department on all three Spider-Man movies and as the art director on Transformers and Watchmen.  So while we’re still waiting to hear about casting beyond Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern, there’s no denying that Campbell has assembled a stellar line-up of non-actors to (hopefully) get another DC superhero franchise off the ground.

Green Lantern is slated to hit theaters on June 17, 2011.

Is it too late to start the Jeffery Dean Morgan for Sinestro campaign? That would make Green Lantern alot more kick-ass.

Doesn't seem like many of you are seeing the big picture here. If you read the article above this one about the spoilers in Iron Man 2's trailer, you can read that Kevin Feige is excited about seeing the dynamic between Iron Man and Cap play out on the big screen. It should go without saying, that with a personality as strong as Robert Downey Jr's, you need an actor playing Cap with just as much command. Even if he is just a tight ass Republican.
