The Emmys played out in traditional “let’s give it to whoever won last year” fashion last night, and so now it’s time to turn our attention to the upcoming 2014-15 TV season that’s just around the corner.  The CW has released the very first The Flash poster for its anticipated series, which is of course based on the DC Comics character of the same name (who may also be getting the big screen treatment in 2016).  The show is a spinoff of sorts of The CW’s other popular superhero show, Arrow, as the two series will inhabit the same universe—in fact a crossover is already planned for Episode 8 of both shows’ upcoming seasons.  This debut poster certainly flaunts star Grant Gustin’s ability to move quickly while also offering keen-eyed fans more than a couple of Easter eggs.  How many can you spot?

Hit the jump to check out The Flash poster.  The show also stars Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Jesse L. Martin, Candice Patton, Tom Cavanagh, Rick Cosnett, and John Wesley Shipp with Robbie Amell, Wentworth Miller, and Clancy Brown poised for guest appearances.  The Flash premieres on The CW on October 7th at 8/7c.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Flash:

After a particle accelerator causes a freak storm, CSI Investigator Barry Allen is struck by lightning and falls into a coma. Months later he awakens with the power of super speed, granting him the ability to move through Central City like an unseen guardian angel. Though initially excited by his newfound powers, Barry is shocked to discover he is not the only “meta-human” who was created in the wake of the accelerator explosion — and not everyone is using their new powers for good. Barry partners with S.T.A.R. Labs and dedicates his life to protect the innocent. For now, only a few close friends and associates know that Barry is literally the fastest man alive, but it won’t be long before the world learns what Barry Allen has become …The Flash.
