Beware of spoilers from The Flash season 2, but fans of the scarlet speedster got a shocker during the premiere when they realized Ronnie (Robbie Amell) had perished. But, as we’ve learned when previous character “deaths” occurred off camera, this might not be the whole story. The actor is now teasing his character’s return to the show down the road.

Amell posted a photo of himself to Instagram posing next to actor Franz Drameh, who will make his debut as Jefferson “Jax” Jackson (aka the new Firestorm) on next week’s The Flash. In the caption, Amell wrote, “Firestorm is in great hands. But I’ll be back.” Does this mean Ronnie isn’t really dead? Will there be an Earth-2 version of Ronnie, much like how we’re seeing with Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) and everyone who’s been slipping through the multiverse cracks? Did Ronnie get sucked into a parallel universe through the wormhole?

Check out Amell’s update below.

The Flash season 2 revealed that Dr. Stein and Ronnie became Firestorm to help Barry close the wormhole formed by the singularity. After setting off an explosion at its opening, Barry caught Stein falling out of the sky. Ronnie, however, was nowhere to be found, leading his friends to believe him to be dead.

While you ponder what Amell is referring to with his update, The CW released this description of next Tuesday’s episode, “The Fury of Firestorm”:

Barry (Grant Gustin) and the team look for another Firestorm match for Dr. Stein (Victor Garber). When the team meets Jefferson “Jax” Jackson (guest star Franz Drameh), Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) has her reservations about whether Jax is the right match for Dr. Stein. Iris (Candice Patton) surprises Joe (Jesse L. Martin) while Barry and Patty (guest star Shantel VanSanten) grow closer.

While Drameh is mentioned as a guest star, we’ve also seen him in the trailers for The CW’s Arrow/Flash spinoff Legends of Tomorrow. So, at least for the time being, it looks like he’s sticking around in some capacity.
