Joey King has been working alongside director Roland Emmerich in White House Down, Stonewall, and Independence Day: Resurgence, but next week she’ll make her debut in the superhero genre with The Flash. A new trailer for the third episode of Season 3, airing on Tuesday, October 18th, sees her as the villain Magenta as she uses her magnetic abilities to terrorize the people of Central City.
But that’s not all: the footage reveals Dr. Harrison Wells has traveled through a portal and he brought his newly minted speedster daughter Jesse (now Jesse Quick!) along with him. Everyone’s shocked by her new lightning-fast abilities, and by the looks of things, she’ll be helping Barry Allen take down this new threat with the magnetic personality.
Watch the trailer below:
In the comics, Magenta (a.k.a. Frances “Frankie” Kane) was a childhood friend of Wally West (played in the CW series by Keiynan Lonsdale). Her wild abilities caused the deaths of her dad and brother, and her mom thought her to be possessed by the devil. Later on, Frances developed a romance with Wally, but when she decided to give up life in the superhero fast track, a scientist split her mind in two, spawning an evil personality called Magenta.
King previously revealed a close-up look at her new role, which is marked by her purple eyes and hair. This week’s episode also featured Harry Potter’s Tom Felton as Julian Dorn and Todd Lasance as The Rival, while upcoming Season 3 guests will include Ashley Rickards as the villain The Top, Grey Damon as Mirror Master, Susan Walters as Caitlin’s mother, and Matt Letscher’s return as Reverse-Flash.
Here’s the official synopsis for Season 3, Episode 3:
Barry (Grant Gustin) and Team Flash are thrilled to reunite with Earth-2 Wells (Tom Cavanagh) and Jesse (guest star Violett Beane). Wells confides to Barry and Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) that Jesse has all the powers of a speedster and has been saving people on his Earth. He is concerned about her safety and wants them to talk her out of using her powers. Meanwhile, Magenta, (guest star Joey King) a new meta who can control metal, terrorizes the city.
