‘The Flash’ Casts A New Adversary for Barry Allen — Its First Female Speedster

     January 26, 2016

the-flash-trajectory-sliceThe CW’s The Flash is introducing another speedster to run alongside Barry Allen, and not in a friendly way. According to TVLine, Allison Paige (Days of Our Lives) will be joining the cast for the role of Eliza Harman, better known as Trajectory.

Trajectory proves troublesome to Barry Allen’s The Flash (played by Grant Gustin) in the comics, but her appearance does not last long. But while Paige’s incarnation of Trajectory is scheduled to make her first appearance in the sixteenth episode, it is not known how long it will last, or if it will carry over to season three. Episode sixteen has this official description:

Episode sixteen has this official description:

“Having arrived in town intent on creating maximum chaos, Trajectory’s antics are misinterpreted as having been perpetrated by the Flash himself. Barry thus must (act) quickly (to) uncover the mystery of who is the girl under the mask — as well as what is driving her mad desire for speed and destruction.”

Prior to these antics, though, and according to the comic books, Trajectory’s backstory involves none other than Lex Luthor. Via his Everyman Project- which was designed to enable regular people with super abilities- Eliza is given super speed. This power, however, becomes permanent, and she cannot slow to regular speed without the assistance of a drug called Sharp.

There seems to be a lot to work with there, and it’ll be interesting to see how the addition of another speedster, and this special drug, test the Flash. It sounds like he could find sympathy in her arguable plight. It’ll be interesting to see how someone who was seemingly a guinea pig for Lex Luthor ends up a villain. Regardless, the back half of Season 2 should be a lot of fun.

The Flash is currently in its second season, with episode 11 airing tonight. So Paige’s Trajectory should be introduced sometime next month. You can watch it Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. on The CW.
