The recently released trailer for The CW’s new superhero series The Flash received some mixed reactions (on this particular site anyway).  Today’s new cut will likely have the same result since it leans heavily on the oftentimes melodramatic emotional hook that’s at the heart of beloved and belittled CW shows alike.  Much like its sister series Arrow, which is at its best when striking a balance between intense action and soap opera schmaltz, The Flash doesn’t appear to be shy about giving the network’s dedicated fandom its just deserts.  You can bet that we’ll have weekly recaps for both shows once they return to the small screen this fall.

MartinCandice PattonTom CavanaghRick Cosnett, and John Wesley Shipp with Robbie AmellWentworth Miller, and Clancy Brown slated as guest stars.  The Flash premieres on The CW on October 7th at 8/7c.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Flash:

After a particle accelerator causes a freak storm, CSI Investigator Barry Allen is struck by lightning and falls into a coma. Months later he awakens with the power of super speed, granting him the ability to move through Central City like an unseen guardian angel. Though initially excited by his newfound powers, Barry is shocked to discover he is not the only “meta-human” who was created in the wake of the accelerator explosion — and not everyone is using their new powers for good. Barry partners with S.T.A.R. Labs and dedicates his life to protect the innocent. For now, only a few close friends and associates know that Barry is literally the fastest man alive, but it won’t be long before the world learns what Barry Allen has become …The Flash.

I mean really? Does anyone think this looks good? Soap opera acting, the suit makes afflicks daredevil look like the shit, the poor budget effects. Superheroes like this need the big screen or a premium network. This looks so bad

      Obvious Marvel Fanboy is obvious.

      • Lovecraftlives

        Yes! Another fanboy jerk.

So,done just learned the word obvious. And no. I’m not a fanboy of either. I love the marvel movies but I favor batman the most. And while agents of shield was garbage, at least it seemed to knows its limitations on not focusing on a superhero

That’s because it’s called Agents of SHIELD, The Flash doesn’t have the option to NOT focus on heroes because the main character is a superhero! Plus Smallville worked well and The Flash effects are way better. You’re expecting way too much from a TV budget.

      • JBug

He is saying is was smart to make the show about agents and not iconic super heroes because it does the heroes a disservice to be on such a small budget and to have a 24 episode season where the plot will not progress and there will be a ton of filler episodes. Smallville worked well?? haha

compared to marvel’s agents of shield, this is waaaaay better. so before you judge this show, look at what marvel produced on tv. agents of shield died without any competition around it.

What does marvel have to do with it? This looks fan made

The Flash has so much potential as a character, but I must say, this looks HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE.

Right, cause that Arrow show is bombing. They leaked the pilot online months ago, it’s good. And the effects were good. This trailer is the victim of bad editing. Look online, nearly universal praise of the pilot among those who have seen it.

I haven’t been this excited for a new TV show in years.

  • Lovecraftlives

Get ready everyone, because the Flash is going to pass through your asses like gas!

When comes to TV DC is the master.
When it comes to movies marvel is better.

    • RiddleThemThis

DC does well with their animated movies.

      • DEADP00L

Definitely I always found their animation series quite enjoyable.

This show looks terrible, horrible costume.

  • LEM

Didn’t they already leak the pilot? Hopefully no one judges whether to watch on this awful trailer because the word of mouth on the pilot is good.

I’m definitely going to give this show a try, but they need to do something about his eyes in the promo art they send out. They’re “too” good looking. Just weird.
