Opening in theaters on March 20th is Taken director Pierre Morel’s actioner The Gunman, and we here at Collider have an exclusive TV spot for the film to debut today. Sean Penn stars as a hitman who attempts to leave his job behind for the woman he loves, only to find that the actuality of giving up the professional killing game is much harder than expected. This new spot ramps up the action and shows Penn as a man spurred into bloodshed when Javier Bardem kidnaps the object of his affection (Jasmine Trinca). The ensemble cast is incredibly solid and Penn’s emotional intensity shines through his hardened exterior, so this film looks to be offering up something a bit different than your standard action fare.
