If you saw each of Peter Jackson’s films in The Hobbit trilogy as they were released over the last three years but are lamenting the lack of one in 2015, you’re in luck! The Hobbit Trilogy Extended Editions will make a theatrical return this October! In addition to being the first time the extended editions will be shown in theaters, this run will also feature a new introduction from Jackson himself. In case you’ve lost track of which films came first in the trilogy, here’s the order:
- The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
- The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
- The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies
Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Luke Evans, Orlando Bloom, Evangeline Lilly and Lee Pace are just a few of the friendly fantasy faces you’ll see when The Hobbit returns to theaters this October.
Fathom Events and Warner Bros. are partnering to present the extended editions of all three Hobbit movies. Shown over three nights, the epic Peter Jackson trilogy will be the first time the extended editions have ever been released in theatres. Also included will be an exclusive introduction by director Peter Jackson. First night showing starts Monday, October 5th, 2015 at 7:30pm local. Tickets will be regular admission prices for each movie.
It’s unclear at this point just when the Extended Edition of the trilogy will be playing in theaters and if they will be playing in consecutive nights or not. The above info lists the first night of the release as October 5th, but also has Tuesday, October 13th listed under The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies Extended Edition title on their site. AMC Theaters also has this date for the final movie in the trilogy. I’m sure we’ll get it all sorted out once the official press release comes out, but for now, just know that the trilogy is coming to theaters in its extended format this October.
