The Hunger Games: Catching Fire provided fans with a sneak peak of one of the articulate and colorful costumes actress Elizabeth Banks will be wearing in the second installment of the young adult franchise.  Banks’ character Effie Trinket is known for her outrageous looks, and this Capitol portrait certainly continues that trend.  New director Francis Lawrence definitely has big shoes to fill, with the first installment debuting to $152.5 million in its first weekend alone.  With the film's website promising more portraits throughout the day, fans may be treated to a number of first looks for other main characters.  Hit the jump to see the first Capitol Couture portrait. [Update: The portrait for Stanley Tucci's Caesar Flickerman has been added]

Check out the first portrait from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire with more to be added later today (via Capitol Couture):

From the looks of the portrait, Banks will not only continue but may surpass the over-the-top Capitol costumes seen in the The Hunger Games.  With the release of the first set of posters displaying a more regal vibe from the Capitol’s Victory Tour section of the book, we can expect that the following portraits coming out today will follow along with that propagandist theme.  The glazed over and glossy marketing definitely evokes that eerie feeling the first film set up with the Capitol, so hopefully new helmer Francis Lawrence can continue building up the groundwork that Gary Ross set in place.

I’m hoping to see more sneak peaks of Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson as Katniss and Peeta, and maybe even a cleaned up Woody Harrelson.  More than anything though, I hope they release an image of the very well-casted Philip Seymour Hoffman as the groovily-named Plutarch Heavensbee.  The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens November 22, 2013.
