Katniss Conquers a Mountain in New Poster for THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE

     May 14, 2013

Lionsgate has released a new poster for director Francis Lawrence’s upcoming sequel The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.  The film finds Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss and Josh Hutcherson’s Peeta dealing with the after-effects of the first film, as a nation-wide uprising begins to swell.  This new poster is quite visually appealing, and it’s graced with the following quote from the novel “The sun persists in rising, so I make myself stand.”  While I was admittedly apprehensive about Francis Lawrence taking over the director’s chair from Gary Ross, the first trailer for Catching Fire was pretty spot-on, and this new poster has me really looking forward to seeing more footage from the film.

Hit the jump to check out the new poster.  The film also stars Liam Hemsworth, Sam ClaflinElizabeth BanksWoody HarrelsonDonald Sutherland, Philip Seymour HoffmanJena MaloneJeffrey Wright, and Amanda Plummer.  The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens on November 22nd in IMAX and traditional theaters.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire:

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

I love the poster actually. I think the marketing for this movie has been really good because I didn’t really like the last one, but I’m excited for this one.

Beautiful… November can’t come soon enough.

Watch battle royale,,,you don’t have to wait till november

Ahh shut up, people like you are so follow fashion. I’ve seen Battle Royale many times way before I knew the existence of the Hunger Games. Whenever something becomes popular people always try to find flaws to justify why it shouldn’t be popular. For the Hunger Games this is the only lame excuse they can come up with. WHO FUCKIN CARES! I happen to like them both, is that a problem? Second of all if you have read the fuckin book, you would know that Catching Fire has nothing to do with Battle Royale (not even the first book, kids killing kids thats the only thing that was similar). Stop trying to act as if Battle Royale had the most original idea. Newsflash buddy, it didn’t. So if i were you I would take my pretentious head out of my ass.

its a complete rip off thats why i am bothered, if you deny that that ‘the slender games’ isn’t a complete rip off you’re just the typical delusional teen fan.

Its way more original than THG, the only book I can see as a an influence is lord of the flies and its only because of the kids

      • DjangoBro

It seems to me that you are upset at the fact that The Hunger Games has gained way more popularity than Battle Royale ever did. Look buddy there is no problem in liking both. If you are the type of person that gets caught up with which film rips of the other, then don’t watch movies.. simple. Every idea is taken from somewhere. Obviously i know that the gladiator theme has already been done before but what matters is execution. While Battle Royale stylizes is kills, the Hunger Games does not. Both films have completely different tones. One takes itself as a political-drama while the other takes it as an action-thriller. Buddy… just enjoy films, who friggin cares. Both are great films. just leave it at that.

I get a feeling this picture was taken with instagram.

I just don’t understand how this picture relates to the story. I can’t think of a single time she had ever been to the mountain top, or worn a poncho. Is it right before she goes to the cabin?

  • Blue

do you see the mockingjay wings at her back? I do

  • Shmegma

She’s so cool, brains and beauty …….what a babe!
