Maria (Naomi Watts), Henry (Ewan McGregor) and their three sons begin their winter vacation in Thailand, looking forward to a few days in tropical paradise. But on the morning of December 26th, as the family relaxes around the pool after their Christmas festivities the night before, a terrifying roar rises up from the center of the earth. As Maria freezes in fear, a huge wall of black water races across the hotel grounds toward her. This outstanding protrayal of a family of 5, who witness and have this catastrophic event rip through their lives is incredibly power, gripping, and so very very real that it litterly transported me right to the scene and i road on the tip of every word, motion, and emotion like you were virtually in Thailand living this nightmare. So so Powerful. I have never been gripped by a movie like this and I am 54 years old and consider myself an avid movie goer. I litterly gasped and almost lost my breath from the first 5 minutes. Tears litterly streamed down my cheeks off and on until I was almost paralyzed from the experience. Unbelievable directing from start to finish. Like no other. Thank you for this very human story.
