Check out the project's press release for more details:

Following a third standing-room-only panel at Gallifrey One, the largest and longest- running annual “Doctor Who” convention in the world, Siv-Art Productions and Unrendered Media are proud to announce that the web series that’s been praised by MTV, Entertainment Weekly, Nerdist, the AV Club and the Huffington Post, as well as named “the best of TV on the web” by USA Today, has brand-new guest stars!

The Seventh Doctor himself, Sylvester McCoy ("Doctor Who", The Hobbit), is joining the cast, which also includes Robert Picardo (“Star Trek: Voyager”, “Stargate: Atlantis”), Chase Masterson (“Star Trek: Deep Space Nine”, “Doctor Who”) and two-time Emmy nominee Mayim Bialik (“The Big Bang Theory”, “Blossom”), in addition to regulars Travis Richey (Inspector Spacetime on “Community”, “Pretty Little Liars”), Eric Loya (“The Best Friend”, “Robot, Ninja & Gay Guy”) and Carrie Keranen (“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”, “Pokémon”).

But that’s just the first announcement. Because of all these incredible casting additions, the second season of the acclaimed web series has been transformed... INTO A FEATURE FILM! “Untitled Web Series About A Space Traveler Who Can Also Travel Through Time” will now become The Inspector Chronicles: Untitled Motion Picture About A Space Traveler Who Can Also Travel Through Time!

The film will be directed by award-winning director Nicholas Acosta and produced by former Marvel Studios Director of Development, Golan Ramras! This new team directed and produced the recent prequel episode of the “Untitled Web Series...” to mass acclaim.

Creator Richey had this to say about the series’ latest casting coup: “As a lifelong Doctor Who fan, I was thrilled about getting to work with Sylvester McCoy! We've been discussing this for the last year or so, and I finally got a chance to meet him in October in London, where we discussed the project over tea. Come on... That's the kind of thing this small-town kid from Wisconsin never thought he'd be able to say!”

Director Acosta geeked out, too. “I get to bring together Doctor Who, The Hobbit, multiple Star Treks and Inspector Spacetime in one movie? I feel like the universe is going to explode.”

McCoy himself commented simply by calling the web series (and soon-to-be film) "a brilliant piece of work!”

The film has already exceeded it's campaign goal on Indiegogo, and encourages everyone to get involved and snag some fantastic perks (http://igg.me/at/TheInspector/x/2522671)!

They are hoping to begin production in late 2014. More information at www.theinspector.tv.
