The Interview is one of my most anticipated movies of the year (though it did inch down half a notch on the list when they decided to censor it to appease a military dictator), and I can’t wait to see it at Christmas.  The release date delay was probably made after Sony and MTV had agreed to air this special (this is now a bit of a long lead for such specific awareness), but it’s here and it’s hilarious.

The Dave Skylark Very Special VMA Special aired last night on MTV and very nicely introduces the newsman and producer characters James Franco and Seth Rogen play in the film (along with roasting celebrity guests Nicki Minaj and Iggy Azalea, and Jason Derulo).  It’s about 20 minutes long, so unfortunately it actually has commercial breaks, but you should give it a whirl regardless.  Hit the jump for The Interview character introduction.  The film itself was written and directed by Rogen and his creative partner Evan Goldberg and will be released on December 25th.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Interview:

In the action-comedy The Interview, Dave Skylark (James Franco) and his producer Aaron Rapoport (Seth Rogen) run the popular celebrity tabloid TV show “Skylark Tonight.” When they discover that North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un is a fan of the show, they land an interview with him in an attempt to legitimize themselves as journalists. As Dave and Aaron prepare to travel to Pyongyang, their plans change when the CIA recruits them, perhaps the two least-qualified men imaginable, to assassinate Kim Jong-un.
