Paramount has released the full press kit for director M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender which includes are over 30 images and 11 movie posters (domestic and international). While some of the images have been previously released over the past six months, there are a lot of new ones. So if you’ve been counting the days till The Last Airbender gets released, hit the jump to check out the images. The film stars Noah Ringer, Nicola Peltz, Dev Patel, Jackson Rathbone, Shaun Toub, Aasif Mandvi and Cliff Curtis.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Air, Water, Earth, Fire. Four nations tied by destiny when the Fire Nation launches a brutal war against the others. A century has passed with no hope in sight to change the path of this destruction. Caught between combat and courage, Aang (Noah Ringer) discovers he is the lone Avatar with the power to manipulate all four elements. Aang teams with Katara (Nicola Peltz), a Waterbender, and her brother, Sokka (Jackson Rathbone), to restore balance to their war-torn world.
Based on the hugely successful Nickelodeon animated TV series, the live-action feature film “The Last Airbender” is the opening chapter in Aang’s struggle to survive.

my only problem is that Iroh looks like Roku he is neither fat nor balding and his tall
I've started watching the series. It's funny and Aang is lighthearted, which makes sense seeing as he's from the Air Nation. There are over 30 images here and not one of them has a main character smiling. This looks like such a joyless affair. But hey, at least Shyamalan looks like he's enjoying himself.
That's exactly what worries me about this film. Appa playing with the kids in a pic above, a brief moment from an international trailer showing Sokka yelling “woohoo!”, and the interviews and charms of the actors, especially the ones playing Sokka and Iroh (he's the other captive in Iron Man 1) are what give me some slim hope for this.
I think the marketing is trying to draw in teens and adults. That's why you don't see the kids having any fun and why it's not rated yet (it is likely going to be PG.) Maybe they figure the kids are coming anyway because of the success of the show?
Here's hoping, because I love the show.
It's already been rated: PG
Well I'm getting enjoyment out of looking at all of these images and posters, so….
He does have light hearted moments though. Not a lot but enough to show that he's not always gloomy.
Can you link to where you've seen this?
(oops that was directed at keola)
Well here's a tv spot that features him smiling.

Here's one where he meets momo and he's laughing.

There's another one that shows Katara trying to waterbend but she ends up freezing sokka. It was kinda funny if ask me.
So there are light hearted moments with Aang and the others.
Sorry that scene is in the same tv spot.
wow it's just awesome!!
Sweet. Thanks. That's MUCH better. I hadn't seen the Nick spots — we watched the series via netflix — and it makes perfect sense to be showing those scenes to that crowd.
I think they are underselling it to the general audience by leaving out the character and the levity but I guess opening day will tell the tale. I guess if you paired the cute stuff with the rating it might make teens and adults stay away. That would be a shame.
