Relativity has released the very first The Lazarus Effect trailer for director David Gelb’s (Jiro Dreams of Sushi) upcoming horror film.  Written by Luke Dawson and Jeremy Slater, who was the first writer onboard Fox’s The Fantastic Four, the pic is the next effort from Blumhouse Productions and revolves around a group of medical students who develop a way to bring living things back from the dead.  It’s essentially a riff on Flatliners, but the cast here is mighty promising with Olivia Wilde and Mark Duplass taking the lead and Donald Glover appearing in a supporting role.  This debut trailer is pretty effective, but it seems to spoil at least one character's demise, which is kind of a bummer.  Nevertheless, Mark Duplass in a horror film certainly piques my curiosity.

Check out the first The Lazarus Effect trailer and poster after the jump.  The film also stars Evan Peters and Sarah Bolger, and opens in theaters on February 27th.
