Warner Bros. has released the first teaser trailer and poster for writers/directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s new film The LEGO Movie.  The story centers on Emmet (Chris Pratt), an average LEGO minifigure who is mistaken for the most extraordinary person in the LEGO world and is looked upon to save his people from an evil tyrant named President Business (Will Ferrell).  The animation style is quite interesting, as it quite literally looks like a movie made out of LEGOs.  The trademark goofy comedy of writers/directors Lord and Miller that they so expertly displayed in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and 21 Jump Street is here in spades, as there are some excellent gags with regards to the numerous kinds of LEGO minifigs in existence.  We also get brief glimpses of Will Arnett's Batman and Morgan Freeman as a God-like character (what else?), and there are sure to be plenty more recognizable folks along the way.  Count this firmly among one of my most anticipated films of 2014.

Here’s the official synopsis for The LEGO Movie:

The 3D computer animated adventure tells the story of Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.
