While Superman fans have to wait until 2015 for the next live-action iteration of the character, heâll be making an appearance in LEGO form in the very promising The LEGO Movie. A new TV spot for the film has been released online, giving us our first look at the LEGO Supes in action. Channing Tatum voices the character in this pic, which looks like an incredibly fun ride. Thatâs not exactly surprising given the previous filmography of directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller (21 Jump Street, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs), and this TV spot shows off more joyous goofiness and colorful animation.
Hit the jump to watch the new TV spot. The film also features the voices of Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Will Ferrell, Morgan Freeman, Will Arnett, Liam Neeson, Alison Brie, Nick Offerman, and Jonah Hill. The LEGO Movie opens in 3D February 7th.
Hereâs the official synopsis for The LEGO Movie:
The original 3D computer animated story follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.
Chris Pratt (âMoneyballâ) stars as the voice of Emmet. Will Ferrell (âThe Campaignâ) stars as the voice of his primary adversary, President Business, an erudite, anal-retentive CEO who has a hard time balancing world domination with micro-managing his own life; while Liam Neeson (âTakenâ and âTaken 2,â Oscar nominee for âSchindlerâs Listâ) voices the presidentâs powerful henchman, known as Bad Cop, who will stop at nothing to catch Emmet.
Starring as Emmetâs fellow travelers are OscarÂŽ winner Morgan Freeman (âMillion Dollar Babyâ), as Vitruvius, an old mystic; Elizabeth Banks (âThe Hunger Games,â Emmy nominee for â30 Rockâ), as tough-as-nails Lucy, who mistakes Emmet for the savior of the world and guides him on his quest; Will Arnett (Emmy nominee, â30 Rockâ), as the mysterious Batman, a LEGO minifigure with whom Lucy shares a history; Nick Offerman (NBCâs âParks and Recreationâ) as a craggy, swaggering pirate obsessed with revenge on President Business; and Alison Brie (NBCâs âCommunityâ) as a sweet, loveable member of the team, with a powerful secret.
