Taylor Schilling Is THE LUCKY ONE with Zac Efron

by     Posted 4 years, 8 days ago

Taylor Schilling (Mercy) will play the female lead in Scott Hicks’ (No Reservations) adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks novel, The Lucky One.  According to THR, the young actress beat out a group of her peers including Abbie Cornish and Katie Cassidy to land the highly coveted role of Zac Efron’s love interest.  The film revolves around Efron, who plays a Marine (naturally) that survives three tours of duty in Iraq and attributes this brand of luck to his carrying the photograph of a woman (Schilling) he has never met.  Of course, when he returns home from duty, he sets out on a seemingly impossible/irrevocably romantic journey to find the woman.

The Lucky One is the latest in a long line of Sparks adaptations which most recently includes: The Notebook, Nights in Rodanthe, Dear John, and The Last Song.  As such, we should have a pretty good idea of what to expect from the film’s narrative (at least it doesn’t star Miley Cyrus… yet).  The Lucky One is scheduled to begin filming in the fall with a 2012 release in mind.

Scott Hicks is an Oscar-nominated director for “Shine” and has done other more notable movies like “Snow Falling on Cedars” or even “The Boys are Back” and you pick “No Reservations” as reference? Really?

Also, that 2012 date is off. IMDb means nothing.

Zac Efron as a Marine? EPIC FAIL.

Actually studies have indicated that baby faced men are more likely to serve as soldiers than those with masculine features. Something to do with them 'proving' their manhood in their own eyes and others.

This will be a good film, this is right up Scott Hicks alley.

As someone who has served in the army, that is one of the silliest things I have heard. If kids in the army are “baby faced”, it's because so many of them are fresh out of high school. Also, “more likely is a little bit vague. Why not give the actual number? 10% more likely? 2000% more likely? Vague answers in headlines are often used to cover up no real result.

I hope that Zach will take a page from Miley's playbook, and surround himself with well known actors in major roles that can give his film some heft. He will have the advantage of this being a Nicholas Sparks film, but this no-name actress is not going to help at the box office at all.

i bet he finds her, only to find out that she’s dying of cancer or some other disease, and he has a short time with her filled with passion (sex) before she dies. the end.

I dont think he was the best choice for the role, and I think this no-name actress is a TERRIBLE call for Beth. Way to ruin an amazing book. I don’t know if I want to see the movie now. She looks soooo much older than Zac that it wouldn’t even be fun to see them together. It would be weird. I wish more people cared so there was a chance this could change. This sucks. I loved the book so much and now because of bad casting calls the movie will be awful.

No-name actress? You two are one of the lamest moviegoers in the whole darn world!! You shouldn’t base a movie or even a role according to actor’s fame!! You’re too shallow!! It should be based on how an actress/actor portray and embody the characters well.. On how they deliver a character in just a limited span of time.. Marion Cotillard ain’t that famous when she won the Oscars.. And with the “too-old-and-not-much-chemistry” thing, FYI, Taylor Schilling is just 3 years older than him! How about New Year’s Eve?? Though I love Michelle Pfeiffer, I don’t think they have this chemistry that you’re talking about, basing on the age gap between actors. She was like “mother” to Zac already! Grow up fellas!! Or else, you have no rights to watch high-quality films.. You better dig your face to Disney and Miley Cyrus films!
