20th Century Fox has released a new clip for The Martian. Based off of Andy Weir‘s best-selling novel of the same name, Ridley Scott‘s highly-anticipated sci-fi film follows Matt Damon as Mark Wattney, an astronaut stranded alone on mars in the aftermath of a disastrous evacuation. With only the remaining supplies, his scientific genius and a good sense of humor to subsist on, Wattney must find a “science the shit out of this” to survive on the red planet and find a way home. By necessity of the story, most of the film rides on Damon's back, and he carries it with a down-to-earth, humorous ease.

The Martian premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival to positive reviews (you can read Matt's here) and arrives in theaters nationwide on October 2nd. The movie also stars Jessica ChastainKristen WiigKate MaraMichael PenaJeff Daniels, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Donald Glover. The new clip shows off Damon's cheeky performance as Wattney, check it out for yourself below.
