The first images have been released from the The Maze Runner.  Based on the James Dashner’s young adult novel of the same name, the story centers on a group of teens who appear in an area known as “The Glade” but have no memory when they wake up.  The only way out appears to be through a shifting maze of massive walls that harbor dangerous creatures known as Grievers.  Only one of the teens, Thomas (Dylan O’Brien), holds the secret to their escape.  The Hunger Games comparisons are inevitable (groups of teenagers fighting for their lives in a dangerous locale), which is a bit unfair, but that’s the advantage The Hunger Games has by being the most popular and the first to hit theaters.  Based on these images, I’m not seeing too much of what will make The Maze Runner stand out, but we’re still a long way from knowing what the finished film will have to offer.

Here’s the synopsis for The Maze Runner:

Based on the young-adult novel by James Dashner, "The Maze Runner" centers around teen Thomas (O'Brien), who awakens in a rusty elevator with no memory of who he is. What he does come to find out is that he's been delivered to the middle of an intricate maze, along with a slew of other boys, who have been trying to find their way out of the ever-changing labyrinth — all the while establishing a functioning society within the enclosure they've come to call "The Glade."
