First Trailer THE MAZE RUNNER Starring Dylan O’Brien

     March 17, 2014

20th Century Fox has released the first trailer for Wes Ball‘s adaptation of The Maze Runner after premiering it during the latest episode of Teen Wolf.  The story centers on a group of teens who appear in an area known as “The Glade” but have no memory when they wake up.  The only way out appears to be through a shifting maze of massive walls that harbor dangerous creatures known as Grievers.  Only one of the teens, Thomas (Dylan O’Brien), holds the secret to their escape.  I am very intrigued by the premise and I am impressed by the visuals teased in the trailer.  The giant maze is menacing but worn—futuristic once the future has come and gone.

Will Poulter, Kaya Scodelario, Aml Ameen, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Ki Hong Lee, and Patricia Clarkson also star in the adaptation of James Dashner‘s young adult novel.  The Maze Runner opens September 19.  Watch the trailer after the break.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Maze Runner:

Based on the young-adult novel by James Dashner, “The Maze Runner” centers around teen Thomas (O’Brien), who awakens in a rusty elevator with no memory of who he is. What he does come to find out is that he’s been delivered to the middle of an intricate maze, along with a slew of other boys, who have been trying to find their way out of the ever-changing labyrinth — all the while establishing a functioning society within the enclosure they’ve come to call “The Glade.”

There are a lot of teen girls fangirling in the youtube comments feed. There must be some popular kids in it. It DOES look really good, though.

Man, good for Wes Ball. Regardless of how the story holds up, it looks really well made.

  • JBug

This looks way better than Hunger Games

    • Frank

Looks the same as the Hunger Games, basically a rip-off.

I’ll go right in the middle. I thought HG was great and this also looks great. And for a teen thing it looks different enough to not be a ripoff.

I know teenage dystopian is way overdone these days but this is the first since Hunger Games that interests me, that’s a solid trailer. I may actually even read the books for this one. And I’m not sure why but I get less of the typical teen vibe and more of a vibe like the tv show LOST. Which in my book is a good thing.
