Warner Bros. has a new trailer for The Nice Guys, finally giving us a look at the next film from Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Iron Man 3 filmmaker Shane Black. Described by black as either a comedy with action or a thriller with jokes, the noir takes place in the 1970s Los Angeles and revolves around a down-on-his-luck private eye (Ryan Gosling) who must team up with a hired leg-breaker (Russell Crowe) to solve the case of a missing girl and the seemingly unrelated death of a porn star.

I'm pretty much ride or die for Shane Black. The Nice Guys' red-band first trailer delivered all the fast-talking profanity, pitch-black humor, and visual panache Black is known for and while the new trailer has definitely toned down a few of the nastier comedic bits, it's got plenty of smartass quips and style to spare. Gosling and Crowe, while perhaps an unexpected comedic duo, look to be nailing Black's droll sensibility. Divisive though it was, I'm a big supporter of what Black did on Iron Man 3, however, it is undeniably a delight to see him back in his idiosyncratic niche where he can fly his delightful freak flag as high as he likes.
