AMC has released the first The Night Manager trailer. For those who are unfamiliar, The Night Manager stars Tom Hiddleston as a British soldier, Jonathan Pine, “a self-exiled creature of the night; a sailor with no destination,” who is recruited by intelligence office Angela Burr (Olivia Colman) to catch international businessman Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie) in the act when it comes to his involvement with the black market arms trade. But, Pine’s attempts to infiltrate Roper’s inner circle raise the suspicions of the chief of staff, Major Corkoran (Tom Hollander), and grow ever more complicated through his romantic entanglement with Roper’s girlfriend, Jed (Elizabeth Debicki). In true le Carré fashion, it’s a slow burn, building up tantalizing layers that portend immense payoff.

You won’t get much of the “slow” part from this 30-second trailer, but watching these terrific actors square off in a spy story is too tantalizing to pass up, and I’ve got big hopes for this six-part miniseries.

Check out the trailer below. The miniseries premieres Tuesday, April 19 at 10 PM ET/PT.

Here’s the official synopsis:

The series follows former British soldier Jonathan Pine (Tom Hiddleston) who is recruited by intelligence operative Angela Burr (Olivia Colman) to infiltrate the inner circle of international businessman Richard Onslow Roper (Hugh Laurie) and detonate the unholy alliance he has ministered between the intelligence community and the secret arms trade. To get to the heart of Roper’s vast empire, Pine must withstand the suspicious interrogations of his venal chief of staff Major Corkoran (Tom Hollander) and the allure of Roper’s beautiful girlfriend Jed (Elizabeth Debicki). In his quest to do the right thing, Pine must first become a criminal himself.
