If you're tired of R-rated sex comedies playing it safe, then it sounds like writer-director Patrick Brice's The Overnight is for you. The first trailer introduced audiences to the film's specific style of humor, brought to life by principal cast members Adam Scott, Taylor Schilling, Jason Schwartzman, and Judith Godrèche. Scott and Schilling play to their straight-man types as seen in Parks and Recreation and Orange Is the New Black, and Schwartzman is as Schwartzman does. I'd say you're probably safe in basing your enjoyment of this film on how you feel about the aforementioned actors.

That being said, Adam seemed to enjoy his viewing of the adult comedy at Sundance, and Matt had his own take, which you can read about here. We've also got a look at a new poster featuring the cast framed within a very peculiar shape (which will be obvious to anyone who watched the trailer or is a fan of Community). Look for the film in theaters starting June 19th.

Check out the red-band trailer for The Overnight below, followed by the film's synopsis:

Alex, Emily, and their son, RJ, have recently moved to Los Angeles’ Eastside from Seattle. Feeling lost in a new city, they are desperate to find their first new friends. After a chance meeting with Kurt at the neighborhood park, they gladly agree to join family pizza night at the home. But as it gets later and the kids go to bed, the family “playdate” becomes increasingly more revealing and bizarre as the couples begin to open up.
